There are alternatives like debian and other linux distros and I think this is the future of the internet; however I would not be surprised if this future is advancing very fast once true technology has an opportunity to be developed.

In terms of security and backdoors, with the propagation of open source software like linux, this will be close to impossible. Android, for example, basically took over phone market. Tablets and smartphones together have reduced pc and laptop sales quite a lot, due to a lot of the everyday non-productivity related functions (like watching videos, music simple surfing etc) being possible to do with these.

Desktop linux propagation has been a problem. But, with the encroachment of android variants or other open source software into desktops, this may also reach a resolution.

Does not matter. i think the point is that all those big companies and corporations are disposable in regards to this (and probably everything else after a minimum period of adjustment), that is, the infrastructure is present to have computer power, internet, operating systems. Everything is laid out and can be used.
